The long answer is: soon! I have a portable recording device that I’m using to sample bird sounds from my local bird club meetings as well as the sounds of ambient, wild birds. I have two goals for these sounds. One is to create an electronic work that incorporates these sounds. My other goal is to create a computer program that plays these samples for a bird and listens for their response (how loud they scream/sing/talk in response). The computer will customize the sound playback based upon the bird’s perceived preferences.
I also whistle duets daily with my cockatiel Gus. This is more of a private performance but Gus seems to enjoy it.

Thanks, Tom Struble
